Description:

Hey, I'm Chris, a Sovereign Scot and Irish Citizen, and member of the Saorsa team here. I had the privilege of growing up in post-industrial Ayrshire to Irish and Scots parents. Originally from a small town, I was surrounded by rolling hills, sea views, and a rich history filled with figures like Wallace, Bruce, The Covenantors, and Burns.  Alongside that history, I also witnessed the intertwined enduring modern social struggles that continue to this day. Since an early age, I've noticed a serious lack of opportunities and widespread poverty that has affected generations in the area.

For as long as I can remember I have had a keen interest in global current affairs, recognising social injustice and the negative legacy of imperialism.

My journey has had its fair share of challenges. Living with undiagnosed ADHD until just a year ago, when understanding was scarce, I didn't acquire formal qualifications before leaving school due to my parents' eagerness for me to start earning. Nevertheless, that didn't deter me from exploring a wide range of jobs, mainly in public-facing roles such as social work, retail, personal and construction security, and the food industry. However, my greatest fulfillment came from becoming a full-time stay-at-home dad, raising my two wonderful children. I may have started late, but there's no greater privilege.

After spending a decade in a more affluent area of northern Scotland, I now reside in the East Midlands of England, bringing with me a diverse range of experiences and perspectives. When I'm not immersed keeping my finger on the pulse of global affairs, I devote my time to perfecting the craft of making shillelaghs and walking sticks for Irish Bataireacht stick fighting—a true expression of my dedication to heritage, tradition, skill, and discipline.

One of my primary goals is to thoroughly explore the Treaty of the Union, shed light on its preconditions, and utilise them fully. I firmly believe that if Scotland is prevented from doing so, it becomes crucial to bring this matter before the United Nations and the International Court of Justice. Their assessment will help determine whether Scotland has been treated as an equal partner or a colony. Scotland holds a unique position, with its distinct culture, history, and future. I'm genuinely hopeful for what lies ahead, not just for my children's future but for the future of our entire nation. I firmly believe that Saorsa will play a vital role in Scotland's journey towards independence.
